I have a Chihuahua with cerebellar hypoplasia who is constantly on the move -i’m not kidding – she never stops moving (except to sleep). It seems like she honestly runs a marathon in a day. As such I could not keep her at a healthy weight because she burns every single calorie that she takes in. I tried multiple different foods, multiple meals a day, and yet nothing was working. It got to a point that the volume of food I would have had to feed her to keep her weight up was just not healthy. Then I tried this food on the recommendation of a veterinary nutritionist. It is like night and day. She is back to eating 2 meals a day like my other dogs. I do still have to feed her more volume as compared to my other dogs for her size (but still a healthy amount) but I am so happy with the results. What a relief to have found something that works for her and her unique metabolism. Also, she LOVES this food – gobbles it up as soon as I put it in front of her. Thank you Proplan from one happy Chihuahua and her human!

Update: We have now used this for 5 years…everything below still applies. She’s about to turn 6 years old and still super healthy with the energy of a puppy. We have used this since our dog turned 1. She is a shepherd mix with a lot of energy. Unfortunately, she is not very food motivated and is very picky about her meals (where, when, what and how). She has eaten this consistently and the formula gives enough calories to keep weight on her. She is still “petite” but until she slows down, I know this will get her the needed calories.Aside from trying to keep her weight up to normal, she is very healthy. Bloodwork is perfect, skin and coat beautiful, bright eyes, and sharp as a tack. And, of course, lots of energy. No digestive problems at all and her visits outside don’t yield any big messes. As long as they keep making this, we will keep buying. And subscribe and save makes it even more affordable – along with only having to bring the big bag from the porch compared to a trip to the store.

My dogs (two Rottweiler puppies) one is 6 months and the other is 4 months old, both love this food. I mix with warm water or warm chicken broth and a teaspoon of yogurt (active cultures of course) and they lick the bowl clean. This happens even without the yogurt (in case your were wondering). My Veterinarian recommended this food for my puppies because it is research tested. He also recommended adult dog food and not puppy food. Said that the puppy food has too much protein and large breed dogs may grow too quickly for their bones. It may not be top-of-the-line dog food but I’ve tried other, more expensive dog foods that only gave my dogs diarrhea which didn’t resolve over time. I have purchased the chicken and rice, beef and rice, and lamb and rice formulas. Doesn’t matter, they wolf it down and look at me as if I didn’t give them enough. I feed them 3x per day/2 cups each (cause they are puppies). Their coats are shining, stools are firm and I see less discharge from their eyes with this food. They also tend to eat less grass with this food than with others I’ve tried. Justis is a 6 month old German/American Rott mix and a whopping 46 lbs. Elyon is a 4 month old full bread German Rott and a whopping 43 lbs.

😃What I like is there’s never a freshness issue with this product when I order it from Amazon that’s always a fear for pet owners. What I like about this food is I’ve tried other foods and other premium foods and this is really the only food that my dog will walk up to and sit and stay there and eat until the bowl is finished with no broth, no extra meat or anything in it- I do add little bit of flavor sometimes as a treat to my dog but it makes me happy knowing that when I put the food in the bowl pup will finish it along with this other helping that day no need to dress this food up

I used to feed my dog a grain-free expensive diet from a pretty well known brand. However, after about 3 months of feeding my dog that food, she started being a lot less active than before. Her stool was also quite liquidy. I made the switch after finding out that the FDA is doing an investigation on grain-free diets and heart disease in dogs. It’s still ongoing and inconclusive, but the brand I used to feed my dog with was on the list of reported brands that may have caused said heart disease. Believe it or not, Purina isn’t on that list.In any case, my dog loves this food. After only about 3-4 days of making the switch, her bowel movements are normal again. And she’s back to being her spunky, hyperactive self. I missed how she would be able to fetch all day. Now she’s completely herself again! Grain-free is probably a bunch of nonsense anyway. So what if this is grain-inclusive? So long as it’s a complete diet with the proper vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, it should be good to go.

I was kind of skeptical when i first bought this dog food…i mean Purina Pro? What dies that even mean. I’ll telll you what though, this dog food is not kidding. Since i started feeding this to my dogs I can’t empty my mailbox quick enough. Im getting offers non stop for my dogs to go pro. Football, tennis, basketball, baseball…its unreal. We’ve even got an offer to star in multiple movies. Highly recommend if you want your dog to be legit the bawsss.

My APBT, Loki, loves this food. He loves it so much, I use it as dog treats too, lol. He has fattened up nicely and now I’m going to start running with him and building muscle. He is very high energy and this food gives him what he needs to keep at his antics.Last year, I almost lost him because he ate some pecan shells in the yard and they’re toxic to dogs. He was skin and bones and had severe diarrhea and vomiting. He literally had maybe a day or two left. He couldn’t keep anything down and eventually got to the point where he stopped eating. I got his food and mushed it up with a lot of water and force fed. This food along helped him pull through while the toxins slowly left his body and gave him just enough energy to escape death. Eventually he started eating more and within two weeks, he looked better than before he ate the pecan shells! His coat is shiny and he doesn’t suffer from skin irritations anymore. He’s not one yo yet, so I free feed and give plenty of water. I wouldn’t recommend this unless your dog has a ton of energy or is an older dog, bc they will put on weight quickly.

We bought a purebred miniature poodle from a breeder with a year-long waiting list. This is the food the breeder sent with him when we took him home at 8 weeks old. She said she feeds it to all her dogs, including her show dogs. She warned us never to feed our pup wet dog food; she said it was like junk food for dogs.So far so good. We’ve branched out to other flavors of dry ProPlan Sport to give the pup some variety and our dog is thriving at 9 months. He’s pretty active, but still a city dog, and we worried that he might gain weight on this, but he’s fit and trim. Nice solid poop, beautiful skin and coat, all is well. Our vet approves of this food too.I have it on auto-ship from Amazon, since it’s virtually impossible to find in my city. When I do find it, it’s in gigantic unliftable bags. I don’t need that much for one little dog, and it’d probably go “off” before he got to the bottom of the bag. So I just have a few 6-lb bags delivered every 4 months and I don’t have to worry about it.

My hunting line beagle loves duck, so I was excited for her when I saw this flavor. We always giver her the purina pro plan sport as she’s an hyper active beagle, but I enjoy switching up the protein source so I was extremely happy to see that they had formulated 3 new flavors! This has been the favorite so far. Keeps her lean and strong.
