For almost 20 years, I’ve been a regular and faithful user of Frontline for my dogs. However, on a couple of recent occasions they have had a flea issue. The first time, it was later in the month so I decided to give them their Frontline treatment a week or so early. The store was out, so I got Advantix and applied it instead. It worked like a charm. In subsequent reading, I saw individuals who were proposing that Frontline is not always effective with fleas, because they may develop a resistance over time. On the most recent event when I discovered the fleas, I applied Frontline a week or so before the normal treatment time. It had absolutely no effect. I then tried flea baths and natural product sprays, which worked in only a limited and temporary way. So I went ahead and bought and applied Advantix. Literally overnight, in less than 24 hours, I no longer found a single flea on any of my many dogs. I did find many dead fleas on their bedding. I, of course, did all the things to clean the bedding, carpets, chairs, etc. to mitigate any future problems. Long-story-short, Advantix works on those occasions when Frontline doesn’t.

A lot of folk don’t like topical pesticides on their dogs. I am a fan of AVANTI II ! It truly protects my dogs.We live in the woods.Ticks thrive here.Ticks may sometimes land on the dogs, but they don’t stay and they don’t embed. My vet also recommends the use of the new brand of collar. but I don’t like collars for running around in the woods. And I don’t like collars for sleeping in bed with us.The closest thing that we’ve had to an adverse reaction is that Holly will seem a bit more itchy for the first 24 or so hours after application. and while I don’t envy her that I scratch her a lot more and I’m thankful that we have such a good product to protect her.(Holly is currently a single dog but we have had 39 dogs over the course of Our Lives and have used Advantix 2 since it first came out)

Advantix 2 works great. It truly repels as advertised especially the mosquitos which is good since those are the thing to worry about heartworm. Frontline is getting tolerant, I always have far better results from Advantix 2.For anyone looking for full 4 weeks of perfect coverage, it just doesn’t exist. Any topical solution will weaken as you near the 4th week but I have found Advantix 2 to be GREAT. This is a great Seller and cannot beat the price. This is my second time purchasing from this seller on Amazon for price but also quality of product not sold nearing expiration. Expiration doesn’t MEAN BAD it means Weaker.OK… SO! What about Irritated Skin!?Don’t BUY IT if your worried about that! Some dogs are extra sensitive or ALLERGIC. DONT buy a topical solution if that is a huge concern. IT DOESN’T MAKE THIS A 1 STAR product because your dog is allergic or sensitive. For god sakes, you are putting poison on them and that includes in any brand unless your getting a prescription for a Pill. Then there are other possible side effects. Accept That. Anything you choose has Pro and Con’s.My dog has sensitive Skin. She will get a little pink when I use ANY topical solution. However Advantix 2 is well known for being kinda strong. So how do I manage it for my Furbaby??? Easy. Take the time to put the solution on in several places. NOT JUST ONE BLOB, because you’re too lazy.I skip the base of the tail. I never understood this. My dog can lick there all she wants. But I go from base of head at the back of the skull and ever couple inches I squirt a little down till I get between the shoulder blades and even so much as a little bit below that on her back. This helps spread it out and not irritate her and make her itchy. Then again, my pup has allergies and she’s on Zyrtec daily. But when I use to not spread it out she would seem uncomfortable, now she is fine with it. She is just sticky for a day. A Con is Advantix 2 is a little greasier and you get More of it. But frontline barely gives any and never seems to work past 2 weeks. So take your pick! After a day, I brush her out and there is no more sticky. I wait a week instead of 48 hours to bath her. I don’t notice any lack of flea control after a bathing.I really think this product works for anyone in areas where Frontline is losing its effectiveness. Also, heartworm is a billion dollar scare tactic. The idea of it is terrifying however, it is also expensive and for anyone struggling to spend that kind of money per month on their pup. Or those who are concerned with the drug’s effect on the body long term, or those that are allergic. Advantix 2 has that added benefit of the mosquito repellent if you’re religious in your re-applications.So… yeah. You’re going to see pictures of Poor Pink or Red skin. Statistically, there will ALWAYS be a % of animals that have an allergic reaction to inactive ingredients. However, as an owner of a dog with skin problems. Just be smart about spreading out the application and don’t go putting detergents on your dog “washing it clean” because their skin got a little pink or irritated. THAT is what worsens the situation. And I have gone through skin and fur issues with my pup to know this. My dog is allergic to the grass. I know skin irritation. Or should I say She Knows.

I lived in Florida when I rescued my dog from the gutter he has really sensitive skin and would get really bad bald spots when he was bitten by fleas.. I was using another product at the time that was about the same price. When I started to use this no more bald spots because it really does repeal the fleas BEFORE they bite him… I now live in MA and we take walks in the woods so I am so thankful this also repeals the ticks also…It doesn’t leave that greasy spot for days on end he has never had any side affects from it.

I typically don’t go for name brands since generic is often the same product for less, but in this case it is actually cheaper. You may be able to find a comparable price in the stores (Walmart maybe) but the automatic prime subscribe and save I have for this is well worth it for me. I never forgot her medicine it was just a nuisance to remember to order every other month. My dog couldn’t use Nexgard because she has a sensitive stomach and threw it up, and Bravecto isn’t effective against ticks or mosquitos after the first month, just fleas, unless you give them sooner, and if you’re giving it to them every month it can get very costly ($40+ a month). So I left the ingestibles and switched her back to topical flea and tick prevention.I started her on Frontline (or something similar, I got an off brand at Walgreens that was supposed to be exactly like it), but it made my dog itchy. I noticed toward the end of the month she got itchier and even found a flea! Three weeks in, the treatment should still have kept going. I went searching for better brands and found this. This is two doses which is a great deal for the price, making it cheaper per dose than a lot of brands to start. Many of the other brands don’t cover nearly as many insects and biting things as this one does, usually just standard flea and tick. Mosquito protection is important, and of course month long flea protection is important as dogs can get diseases from fleas (if a dog ingests an infected flea they can get tapeworm for instance… something which happened on one of the other brands, back when we first adopted her), which not all brands do. Some go 3-3.5 weeks. That’s hard to keep up with. This one goes the whole month. My dog isn’t a fan at application time…I don’t smell it but she might, or it irritates her skin…she doesn’t itch beyond a day or so after. However, it works really well the whole month long, even in the hot, southern summers. She has dry skin and is often itchy, and while she experiences some itching on this, it’s not nearly as bad as the Frontline was.Probably won’t ever stop using the K9 Adventix, it’s more affordable and effective than the ingestibles and even other topical brands, and covers a broader spectrum of insects. Hope they one day come out with a sensitive skin line, but for now I’m grateful for the full protection.

Neighbors animals who are around our dogs daily are covered in fleas. We medicated with this and they used another expensive name brand. Our dog is flea free theirs are covered. It’s working great for the ohio 2018 flea season.

I had my doubts about mosquitoes but when I took my dog to a park and we sat near a river near a grassy tree lined area I saw the swarm of mosquitoes hovering a few feet away but not going on or near my dog. That evening I checked the date and realized I was a week late on my second monthly application. No ticks at all either and I’m assuming this prevents everything else they say that it does.No skin irritation or side effects. I was worried about that because the breed I have is notorious for itchy skin and allergies. This is the only brand I will use now.

This product worked pretty well on my senior beagle. Just becareful when you apply the product on your dog. I used gloves-and I applied the liquid by parting her fur in half. I then applied small dot amounts down. I remember in the PAST, I used to just apply quickly down the fur without parting the hair and it made a mess. The product got in my dog’s eyes from her rubbing the solution on the carpet and rubbing her eyes with her paws (this is a different product though). So glad to say that this time-all went well. The fleas and ticks seem to have mostly gone away. I see her occasionally shaking her fur or scratching her back on the carpet (she normally doesn’t do that-often). But it’s not as often as it was before. I gave her the first bath since applying the medication two weeks ago. I hardly saw any fleas that came off her today. Pretty satisfied, I would recommend.

I wanted to take the time to review this product, because of so many negative reviews saying this product can harm your pet. I’m a chemist so I’m more comfortable with chemicals – everything is a chemical including water and the air we breath. But I’m also a bit more knowledgeable than the average pet owner.I used the product without my dog showing any negative signs. I did so without worry because the bulk of the product is permethrin, the same chemical used to treat children who catch lice at school. I’ve used this on my dog several years but it’s necessary to buy a “de-licing” kit you find in drug stores. I typically spray it on a bandana and Dory has to wear it, which she doesn’t like, and I have to wash the bandana frequently and reapply. This is cheaper and more convenient. This product adds 2 other ingredients I’m unfamiliar with but at low concentrations. I’ll have to check into what their purpose is.I saw no adverse effects. Others have shown photos of irritated skin. Of course, like humans, dogs can have allergies. That’s always a possibility. But I wonder if the irritation shown didn’t on some occasions arise from a severe infestation of mites or even fleas. I suspect that’s as likely as an allergy. Pet owners purchase this fairly expensive product for a reason. Our problem isn’t fleas or mites but ticks. I hate them but we love the woods and tall grass so they are part of Spring. I’m hoping this product works because it’s easier than trying to keep a bandana on my dog. It’s easy to apply, and Dory seemed not to notice. She’s had it on for 2 days with no adverse effects. Thumbs up from me!

I know all pets are different, so different medicine works for different pets. However, we went through so many types of different flea medicine. Probably spent over $300, on each dog probably more to be honest, until I found this. This works better then front line, for our dogs anyways. I want to say thank you for the reviews, because it helped me to decide. So I hope this helps someone else. This is very easy to apply, I will be purchasing this every month. I gave my dogs a bath first and I waited 4-5 hours until I applied it. Only to make sure they were fully dry. For some reason before we found flea medicine, whenever we gave our girls a bath, there fleas would come back 10X worse. But this time, it’s been about 2 weeks maybe more, and we haven’t seen no fleas at all. Thank you!!!!
