We bought this in July 2016 and I am updating my review in Feb 2017 to say that we are still happy with this and use it an average of 3x a week, sometimes a lot more.Worth it!I did not want another weird specialty kitchen appliances that would be used a little and then take up cabinet space. However, my husband would eat frozen Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches daily which are expensive and full of bad ingredients. After over a month of indecision I finally bought it for him, but it has been great for the entire family. It’s about the size of a toaster and stores easily.Delicious! It’s been great! My husband uses it to make his breakfast sandwiches (with all natural ingredients) for a portion of the price. My 4 and 2 year olds love the sandwiches too. We make lunch sandwiches like grilled cheese and turkey. I even make paleo/gluten free friendly versions. Make 2 eggs and veggies sandwiches and a sausage patty in between.Fast! It only takes a few minutes and it’s really easy to clean up. We even prep our food for the week by putting one egg in a 1 c tupperware with any veggies (or not) that we want. Then each morning we just pull out the food, pour it in the sandwich maker, set the timer and walk away. Less than minutes later we have a delicious perfectly cooked breakfast.Easy! The clean up is really easy too. Just remove the rings and wash them with soap. I carefully put the sandwich maker in the sink and wash the inside with a soapy sponge, then carefully rinse it, and set it on a towel to dry. Just like I do with my waffle maker.Healthy! This has been a great alternative to the frozen breakfast sandwiches. We use real, fresh, natural ingredients. We love this!

Love this!!! I use this often and it’s so easy!1. Preheat! Spray a paper towel or napkin with cooking spray or use vegetable oil. LIGHTLY grease anywhere the sandwich will touch. Let preheat.2. Preheat breakfast sausage – if using. I heat mine for 30sec in the microwave. I’ve also used Canadian bacon but I do not preheat this.3. Split English muffins and brush off all crumbs.4. Arrange a single slice of American cheese on the bottom English muffin— cut the cheese slice into fours! Arrange the four pieces evenly on the muffin so they don’t hang off and become a melted mess.5. By this time the machine should be done preheating – light will turn green (5 minutes maybe?)6. Open the cooker and flip up the top two molds (the top circle mold and the flat slide out one)7. In the bottom mold, place the bottom English muffin with the cheese and add your meat on top of the cheese- close the top two so that only the lid of the machine is lifted up8. Now crack open an egg on the flat swivel piece of the mold.9. Add your top muffin by gently letting it fall on top of the egg. Careful or your egg will break and if you’re like me, you savor the creamy yolk. Don’t let it break!10. Close the machine lid gently11. Set timer for 3.5 minutes. My eggs are regular large eggs. May need to adjust according to egg size.12. Timer will beep and you are done! Carefully slide out the flat swivel piece. Open the top mold. Then open the bottom mold – they should be all flipped up. Use a spatula to place your sandwich on a plate and eat. Yay!P.S. Was too tired of typing to reread/spell/grammar check. Don’t judge me! HeheOoops almost forgot, cleaning the machine due to grease…. while it’s still hot, get a damp sponge with a little bit of Dawn. Wipe down machine. Done.

POP THE EGG YOLK!!! I REPEAT! POP THE EGG YOLK!!! Ok, got it? That’s important. If you’re having trouble with the egg not cooking well (barring any actual defect worthy issues) or having a mess in your machine, then pop the egg yolk. Also make sure to use medium/large eggs, not the Jumbo or XL eggs. The size of your top muffin makes a difference too. If some of it spills over though, it’s not a big deal because it just wipes off after cooling.Someone else mentioned it results in tasteless sandwiches… Because homemade ones use buttered bread, etc. I mean… So use butter?!? We butter the plates, and add a pat of butter to the bread. Easy. Heck, add salt and pepper, or whatever seasonings and fancy cheese you prefer. The machine has nothing to do with the taste. If you’re still having actual trouble, like the thing is burning everything after 2 minutes OR just not cooking after like 7, you have a defective unit. It happens with ANY product. Just get it replaced. Amazon is good at that, so is Hamilton Beach. Don’t come whining on Amazon when you get a defective unit, if you haven’t already replaced it. It’s not a true review of the product, otherwise.****Now to my own review. We have owned this gadget for about 7-8 years now. And we freaking LOVE IT. I can’t express enough how excited the family gets when we pull it out. You can custom create your sandwich to your heart’s content, and drown in gooey yummy sandwich goodness. We use it when guests stay over and they end up needing one of their own. We’ve bought them as gifts. Just get one and try it.Trust the positive reviews.

I am actually excited for my weekday breakfast now. These homemade mcmuffins are so good! My favorite version uses sliced tomatoes, Swiss cheese, and precooked bacon (from Costco- only 40 calories per slice). So many options, so easy! My kindergartener and my teenager both love it. I wish it came in a four count; I may have to buy another one for our family. It’s also easy to clean with a quick wipe down.

Breakfast is hard for us – we don’t work normal schedules, and my lovely wife tends not to eat breakfast, and I tend to grab what is easy. Given that, ANYTHING that makes breakfast easy is wonderful, and this little guy is spectacular. There are so many thorough reviews, that I thought some usage hints would be helpful.1- Have toothpicks standing by! When you slide the egg tray out, but before you start the uncover – run a toothpick down through the top to keep everything from sliding around.2- We tried Canadian bacon and regular bacon, but they tended to be too tough for a clean bite, so we use sausage patties now.3-When removing the cooked sandwiches from the machine, have a small spatula to keep the sandwich in place while you slip a pancake turner under the finished product – otherwise you may have to chase the sandwich a bit, and that means more clean up, and some grumpiness you can avoid. :)4- Try grape jam on your sausage, egg, and cheese creations – it really goes well!We really could not be happier with this purchase.

I’ll admit, I’m like one of the kids when it comes to gadgets. I just love gadgets, but I really love gadgets that work! I purchased the Hamilton Beach Dual Breakfast Sandwich Maker in hopes that my kids would get a healthier fix of that popular fast food sandwich! Much to my surprised, it served it’s purpose and then some! Is it easier to just toss an egg in a frying pan and cook it and toast the muffin? The decision is split there. My husband is old school and happy to just dirty yet another frying pan, spatula, use butter, etc. I am willing to try new and healthier options! I won’t walk you through the step by step process that some have already done for, but I will tell you -1. We didn’t coat it with anything (no spray, no oil, no anything) and we had no sticking.2. We preferred 6 minutes of cooking time for egg, ham and cheese – and yes, even for the eggs and peppers!3. Cut your cheese/meat into 1/4 so you don’t have any overlapping on the outside. This greatly helps even the easy clean up!4. Do not limit yourself to breakfast alone! Wow! Roast beef from the deli and some sharp provolone and you have an awesome lunchtime/dinnertime sandwich! Mozzarella, tomato and basil! They sky is the limit here!5. Easy enough for the kids to do, but it does get hot, so you do need to supervise.6. Clean up is a breeze. Everything wipes clean. It is that simple.I hope this helps clarify some of these mixed reviews! The picture that I have selected is the very first sandwich made by the young teen – without reading directions. He did an awesome job! We have since perfected it and will be uploading more photos of our expanding menu of grilled sandwiches!

Cooks egg sandwiches perfectly and easily! After reading reviews of some people that gave it a low rating of think it is user error more than the sandwich maker itself. Here are some tips: The handles clearly say ‘hot’… So use an oven mit to open the handle once it is done cooking…. Egg not cooking the whole way through? Break the yolk and don’t overload it with toppings! That’s your issue. Wait for it to completely cool before cleaning… The egg residue should peel right off. And for the people that whined about the order of the egg, meat, and cheese not being like a McDonald’s Egg McMuffin…flip your bread order. It’s that simple. See attached photo… Geez. Reviewers these days can be so dumb! Use your brain :)

We spent one morning experimenting. Here’s what we found. The best bread to use is the English muffins. Crossiants will burn if cooked too long or if machine was already used and is still very hot. Solution; allowed about 5 minutes of cooling time before making another batch. Also, one batch we used scrambled eggs. Allowed the eggs to cook for 2 minutes before adding top crossiants. Next batch for poached egg, allowed egg to cook for 3 minutes before adding tops. Crossiants cooking time for crisp light non burnt was 4 minutes. Used pre-sliced sourdough bread sliced in half. Did same as above; allowed eggs to cook first then added tops. Perfectly toasted hot sandwiches. Meats used were frozen sausages and ham. We put the sausages in the microwave for 30 seconds to thaw. They were links so used 2 and cut them in half to make 4 halves; fit perfectly. Used fresh sliced deli ham folded in half. Cheeses used; sliced Kraft American singles and Tillamook sliced Swiss. The corners of the cheese stick out a tiny bit and ooze over the edge, but stay on the machine, nothing leaks on to counters. We mixed and matched all breads, meats, & cheeses. Only a couple of fails with cooking times, but most worked great and fun for the kids to help out with the experiment. The easiest bread is the English muffins. No need to allow egg to cook before adding the tops; just throw it all in. Best tasting was the crossiants with scrambled egg, ham, and Swiss. Yum! And the sourdough slices toast real nice. Also did a sourdough sliced, thin slice of mozzarella, thin slice of tomato, sprinkled some basil–no egg (just left the egg dividers open). Was a nice little snack. Would probably be better with bacon and avocado. :). Clean up is a breeze. The cups lift right out; put them in a bowl of hot soapy water for literally a minute, rinsed and dried. Used a warm wash cloth to wipe away crumbs and melted on cheese from the machine, came right off, no scrubbing.

Since receiving this, I have made a breakfast sandwich every day (for a couple of months now) and I LOVE it! My kids have opted a healthy breakfast sandwich over their usual choice of sugary cereals too much of the time so that’s a huge plus. SO much better tasting than the (albeit convenient) pre-made frozen ones you pop in the microwave. You control the ingredients (ex. whole grain English muffin, turkey sausage or ham, egg whites, or a low fat cheese…etc. versus the the less healthy alternatives). It takes literally 5 minutes to produce the breakfast sandwich of your choice from start to finish and the clean up is a breeze, usually an easy wipe down is all that’s needed. No lie, super easy. So, yesterday…after contemplating what to do with a good amount of mashed potatoes I had left over, I decided to see how well some savory potato cakes would hold up in this breakfast sandwich maker. I can say that they turned out beautifully and so much better uniformed than those made on the stove. Whether you’re making the purposeful breakfast sandwich, or the occasional experimental pancake of sorts, this appliance is a handy tool in the kitchen. I’ve been very pleased with its daily performance.

Let me preface my review by saying I’m not a Michelin chef; heck, I have a hard time working my way around an InstaPot, so when I tell you this is easy to use and makes a nice breakfast sandwich, that’s saying a lot. I would add that it took me a couple of tries to get my “preferred” choice, so you might want to play around with yours as well, but this is what I discovered. First, if you want to make an imitation Egg McMuffin, it’s best to put the cheese directly next to the English Muffin and the Canadian Bacon on the Cheese on the bottom, and when you crack the egg, it’s best to break the yolk and stir it around a bit to distribute it before you pout it on the plate and put the other half of the English Muffin on top.I also discovered, at least for my taste, setting the cooking time for 6 1/2 minutes prepared the English Muffin better than shorter times as it was a “better bite” and the egg seemed to have been cooked a bit better. I also discovered that when you remove the Breakfast sandwich, if you turn it over (so the cheese is on top) and let it sit for a few moments, it will let everything settle and there’s a much less chance the Sandwich will drip. Finally, whenever I made these Breakfast Sandwiches, I discovered my wife showed up to have a bite, which turned in to her eating half of the Sandwich, so now, whenever I decide to use this, I make two so she can have her own. It’s gotten to the point she’s started placing “special orders,” like changing out the cheese (try sliced white cheddar), put in bacon instead of Canadian Bacon, toast the English Muffin first and reduce the cooking time so the egg isn’t as well done…I’ve created a monster.
