I bought this slip lead and another brand on the same day. Both descriptions sounded similar and I was interested in which was the best. The Friends Forever brand is BY FAR the best of the best! The quality and feel are superior, the death is quality and well sewn.Don’t get me wrong, the competing brand was nice, but by comparison this brand was simply the best!! I am thinking of buying another to keep in my car and I am certain I will buy another Friends Forever one, but probably just a different color :)

I am active in rescue. We pull dogs from a local government shelter facility, find quality no-kill shelters that will save them and adopt them to good homes. Successful and safe handling/transporting nervous dogs requires using quality equipment. I have a variety of slip leads but this lead has a slightly different feel. It is braided tighter using more threads. The keeper slides easily and yet works effectively to hold the loop securely around the dogs neck. This lead is easy to remove while the dog is crated for transport and also easy to put back on when it is time to get the dog out of the crate. This lead which is on the left in my photo keeps a nice open shape while a different brand on the right collapses. An open loop is good when reaching inside a crate to leash a scared dog. It allows me to use just one hand. I will buy again. I tried the lead on my Great Dane and on my Papillon. It worked for both size dogs.

This is the best. Thick and durable. There is a slight stiffness to it that makes it very easy to hold it out so my dog can just stick her head through it — herself. This is very important as she does not like to wear harnesses or collars and has gotten nippy when the process of “suiting her up” takes a long time or requires a lot of fuss. I’ve had other slip knot leashes, but this is by far the best looking, most durable feeling, and most importantly, easiest for me and my dog to put on. The patterned leash is extra good looking in-person. It also feels great in my hand. My dog pulls and is extremely strong. It will hold her and keep my hand from being injured. Buy it! The price is amazing for what you get.

I was unsure at first when reading the few bad reviews, and while there’s always a defective unit that slips through every once in awhile, a lot of the bad reviews are because they don’t know what they’re talking about. First, this loop stopper they complain about being on the lead. It’s for the safety of the dog, genius. While you want the lead to tighten if the dog pulls and then stop pulling because it’s uncomfortable, some dogs are so poorly trained, that with no stopper, they’ll keep pulling and could injure themselves. But by all means, if you’d like to hurt your dog, just cut the thing off.As for the stopper not being adjustable, it is. But use your head. If it were just able to slide down the rope, then it really wouldn’t be a useful stopper, now would it? Push both sides of the rope through the stopper creating a small loop on the other side. Pull back one side of the rope to adjust accordingly. Don’t create a size smaller than your dogs neck. That’s just ignorant. For the crybabies who complain about the loop not holding a perfect circle, that’s just the stopper being slightly off. All you have to do is play with the stopper and roll the rope into different positions until it holds a good circle. Geez, just takes 2 minutes to figure it out.As for the ones who say the rope didn’t last long because your dog chewed it easily. Really? The problem is you and your training, not this lead. Your dog probably chewed a leg of a chair, but expect this lead to be indestructible. The only legitimate complaint I can maybe see is the little leather slide lock wearing out too fast, but maybe it’s going on the dogs neck to tight and the metal ring is pushing back. Or you’re trying to slide it down the rope by grabbing the metal button, making it slide up and down unevenly, which cuts into the leather. Stop. But if it does fail, just cut up an old wallet or belt and hand stitch a new one on. Problem solved

I now have 5 of these so I felt obligated to say why with a small review. Slip leashes just slip over their head – no clips, no futzing, etc. Takes 1 second and is gentle to the pet (in my case dogs). The leash is strong but soft rope. If they pull, it tightens but does not choke. They learn quickly they cannot pull out of it – so they stop trying. So great for strong pullers. The reason for 5. One in each car – one by each door. We have regular clip and retracting leashes and they have their uses, but our first grab for a quick walk is one of these.

We’ve used many types of harnesses and leashes for our 100+ lb GSD. He has a very heavy pull, especially when his prey-drive kicks in so walking with him can be a challenge at times. We always thought that using full chest harnesses was the best option until our kennel guy recommended a slip rope lead. We figured it worked for him since he is a great handler and we did not thing our GSD would go for it at home. We are very glad we tried this leash, it works great for both our GSD and Akita. Initially we had to train them, but within a couple days they warmed up to it. They respond very well to the loose feeling of the slip leash compared to the usual, restrictive harnesses we’ve used in the past. We do still have to periodically train them when we take extended breaks from walks/exercise, but they always revert back to more relaxed walk within a day or two. The leash itself is very durable and comfortable to hold and comes in true to advertised color. We’ve used the leashes for about a year now and show no signs of detrimental wear and tear. Give it a try, it worked for us!

Have a three year old husky mix that is pretty hyper. We go for about a 2 mile walk most day after work and she was always pulling with the leash that just connected to her collar. I’ve used this new leash for about 2 weeks now and it has been awesome. She no longer pulls and walks about the same speed as I do so there is always slack in the leash now making the walks much more enjoyable!

This leash is perfect for quick walks to the mailbox or a potty break. When we travel, my dog has a collar and matching leash, but he doesn’t wear his collar all the time at home. This one-piece combo is exactly what I wanted. I can adjust the loop to go over his head then slide it secure. The opposite loop is the hand grip. I love the heft of the woven cord. It’s the right length for me to keep stride with my dog, but there’s not too much extra to manage when we’ve got business to do. For example, when we get up in the morning, I take him out to relieve himself first thing. It’s still dark. I’m in my pajamas. He needs to go! I take this leash off the hook by the door, secure it over his head, slip on flip flops, and we’re out the door in seconds. It’s just exactly the right thing.

While I can’t walk my new bull terrier using solely this leash (have to use the prong choke collar), it is always in my pocket or near the door as I can step outside quickly, sometimes even in the house, slip it on easily and she quiets down immediately. I use it several times a day to redirect her, to get her under control and settled back down. And it is beautiful! I love it. I call it her “bridle” as it looks, feels and is as strong as a horse bridle (I think).

These are very attractive and well made leashes. I’ve never used any like them before, and I’m glad I tried this new design. I can get them on faster than the click-on kind, since you don’t have to find the collar loop to click the leash onto. There’s a nice looking leather ring on the leash you can adjust to fit the size of the loop you want around your dog’s neck. The leashes look great- I get compliments. And they feel very good. I feel like I’ve gotten a little special thing for myself and my dogs.
