The speakers sound much better than the 2.1 and 5.1 systems I used to have for my PC. The best part about these is that I can pair them with multiple input sources. I have a small music server (OpenElec running on a ZOTAC ZBOX CI323) that is attached via digital, a TV through 1/8 jack to RCA and a laptop paired with Bluetooth. The setup was very easy and took less than 30 minutes. The sound is no overly base and to my ears there is a solid representation of the voice layer of the music I listed too. I listen to a wide variety of music from the 1970s to recent music. This music includes Queen, Haircut 100, Elton John, Arcade Fire, First Aid, U2, Cold Play and Future Islands. The only draw back to the speakers that I see (and in my case I can not subtract a full star for the omission) is the lack of the ability to add a Sub-woofer to them for increased bass if desired.

Bought these speakers after reading the many positive reviews on amazon. I intended to use them for temporary period until purchasing new receiver and home speakers, but I have been pleasantly surprised by their full, rich sound and impressive range. While these speakers do not match more full size speakers that are powered by a receiver, they have impressive sound for a relatively small package. The bass, highs and volume are spectacular for their size and they simply blow away any single enclosure Bluetooth speaker, even in the high ($300) price range IMHO. Having separate speakers that give a nice sound stage and more range is nice and these pair well with phones thru Bluetooth or plugged in to old-school RCA type output sources. I have not compared them directly to other speakers in their class but the reviews that have seem to be favorable. They definitely punch well above their weight for the price and for a bit over $100 they are impressive!

Update: After a few hours of breaking them in the bottom tones are filling out really nice, it’s surprising but a good reminder that speakers need to break in! Updated from 4 to 5 stars. I can’t believe you get these for this price. These are extremely clear speakers that produce an excellent stereo field. They lack a bit in the low end punch but mid-bass tones are represented beautifully, as well as higher tones. The cabinets had some (what I’m guessing is) glue left around some of the seams that was easily removed by hand.I’m very impressed with the clarity but may add a component subwoofer to help the low end along, for the price I’m very happy and can’t believe how speaker technology has evolved over the last 20 years.

These speakers are great! After throwing a party and discovering that my small portable bluetooth speakers could not handle the job of providing background music for a full living room (and I live in a relatively small apartment), I decided I needed something else. I looked at getting a sound bar, but what I really wanted was something that had multiple inputs and I could plug into different devices without needing to purchase a separate stereo. These fit the bill perfectly. I’ve got them plugged into my TV and use the blue tooth function on them often. I also am hoping to get a record player soon and that will plug right in as well. It comes with the cables you need (though they’re on the shorter side, so you might want to get longer cables but thats pretty inexpensive) and they look great. Set up was a breeze and I’ve gotten tons of compliments on how nice they look set up with the TV. The price was exactly what I was looking to spend. Overall these are perfect general use speakers for those looking to up their audio game without breaking the bank.

I’ve been listening to a lot of music lately and decided I needed something better than the crappy computer speakers I had been using. So I went through a ton of reviews on Amazon and Youtube looking for something decent at a good price. I decided to try these Edifier R1280DB powered, bluetooth capable desktop speakers. Holy shit! These things are awesome!!! I tried them directly connected to my PC, tried them with the bluetooth connection and even connected to an Ipod Shuffle. Incredible sound. The bluetooth is slightly compressed but still sounds really good. The R1280DB is $129 and the R1280T (without bluetooth) is $99. These things are definitely worth it.

I’ve had these for about a week and I’m very impressed! I’m an audio engineer by profession so I’m naturally hyper critical regarding speaker sound quality, balance, and tone. I have lots of experience with both similarly priced monitors this size and ones that cost10x as much, designed for critical listening SO, the verdict? Before I get technical, these1280DB speakers are simply SATISFYING and very PLEASANT to listen to for most genres of music, TV & movies and spoken content. Bass is natural, low mids are full and punchy, highs are crisp and most importantly, the mids are clear and detailed. They hold their own compared to $$$ Dynaudios! They are smooth like ribbon-tweeter ADAMs. Bose fans will probably not like these as the EQ curve is not over hyped in the lows nor brittle in the highs.Getting this sound along with 2 analog inputs, 2 digital inputs, bluetooth AND a useable on-board EQ AND a remote with a Mute button (!!) is simply unheard of at well under $150.If you are looking to upgrade your media center in a bedroom or small living space, listen to a variety of music and content for extended hours do not pass these up! Your won’t find better with these features. I’m getting another set for the bedroom.TL;DRAre there better speakers out there? Absolutely. But not with this feature set and well planned multi-use I/O. If you like extremes (massive bass, head frying treble and volumes that will rattle your glassware, these aren’t for you. If you like to be right there in the studio with Miles Davis recording Kind of Blue, hearing nuance and tone, these are for you. There is ZERO listening fatigue at up to 90% of max volume for hours! Fatigue is commonly found with speakers of this size (Bose) and class that commonly sound ok for about 15 minutes until your ears fight off the painfully hyped EQ curve by reducing your sensitivity to bass and treble, leaving a messy and tiring midrange. Rather, these Edifers can be placed in a small living room and sound great all over the room. Great for passive listening as well as focused listening. Excellent stereo imaging too. They don’t get crazy loud (you can speak loudly over them at 90% volume – above 95% distortion starts to enter and your don’t want that) but are plenty loud for small to mid size rooms. There’s bass for sure, but they don’t thump. And you shouldn’t expect that for ~$130 unless you want fake fatigue thump. To get true thump you need a woofer cone at least 6″ , pref 8″. To outdo these speakers you’re looking at $200+ and half the features. No, they are not flat but the inherent EQ curve works amazingly well. I can critically judge mixes on these. They sound natural in the bass, crisp but soft in the high freq and most importantly they have a CLEAR, nicely balanced low-mids to mids to high-mids range. And these are ” computer speakers ” per se! I would use these in a pro studio if I had to.And look, sound is extremely subjective. You’ll get 100 different opinions from 100 ppl. But your can trust that all things equal, you will surely enjoy the sound of these. They have a tone to them that is just RIGHT, and not all wonky in some random freq area or phase issue like most other small format consumer models.Edifer nailed it with these and I don’t know how they kept them under $150. Don’t pass these up. They sound fantastic! From minute 1 to hour 12.

I’m a little bit of an audio-nerd, as I have a home recording studio, but that’s not what I wanted these for, We just wanted something that didn’t break the bank, sounded good and looked nice in our smaller living room setup. I love the sound a lot! I didn’t expect huge booming bass, and I didn’t receive that, but the overall balance sounds amazing. They sound rich, and full. These speakers are perfect for a small room, or computer use. My only regret is not making more money so I could buy the bigger ones! Haha. The photo I’ve attached shows the speakers next to our 46″ TV.

I am blown away by how great these speakers sound. I am running through optical setup, using mostly for gaming. I use them to do a lot of racing simulation with a full wheel, shifter, and pedal setup and it is easy to forget you’re not driving a real car, that’s how immersive the experience has become with the addition of these speakers. Sound is rich and full, with bass range being much better than expected without a subwoofer. Build quality is fantastic and the wood grain does not look cheap, it is a very nice subtlety in design and I find them very visually pleasing without being gaudy or distracting.Edifier has been an outstanding company when it comes to customer care, I received an e-mail soon after purchase making sure everything was working as intended and I was happy with my purchase. I do not think you will find a better, full-bodied sound for this price from any other manufacturer. This experience has made me an Edifier fan for life. Thank you to this wonderful company for a fantastic product from start to finish.

I absolutely recommend these speakers!Bass -I read some other reviewers pointing out that the bass is not loud enough. That is a matter of personal preference, but in reality, these speakers are limited due to their physical dimensions. They are what they are.If you ask me, I think the bass it produces is more than adequate. I find it impressive, actually.Studio Monitors -I own a pair of studio monitors – Yamaha HS5 ($199.99 each). The Yamaha monitors are phenomenal, but a bit pricey as a replacement for ordinary computer speakers. I mainly use them in my music studio for mixing audio tracks (well… ‘cus that’s what they are for). I can attest that the Edifier R1280DBs are about 90% as good as my Yamaha studio monitors. They are that good! Super crisp. Super clear and a perfect amount of bass. They are a well-balanced pair of speakers. If you’re a budding Studio Producer, but you’re strapped on cash, the Edifier R1280DBs are an excellent choice. If you’re looking to replace your lame computer speakers, these will definitely be a welcomed upgrade.

For a little background this is the first Amazon review I’ve ever left, these blew me away that much. I just graduated high school and was looking for some higher end speakers at a price point I could afford making just a bit more than min wage. I took a chance on a brand I’ve never heard of and these did not dissapoint. First, they look great. I took off the covers because I personally like the way they look without them. The sound quality is amazing, the adjustable treble and bass are a big plus. They provide an RCA to RCA cable, an RCA to Aux cable, an Optical cable, as well as being bluetooth compatible. The chords themselves are all Edifier brand and work very well. The only complaint I have (if you can call it a complaint) is just being slightly annoyed with bluetooth capabilities. The range is fine but it doesn’t do well if anything is blocking the connection between your phone and the speakers. Overall great for the price and I would recommend.
