I bought a set of these knives for my granddaughter who was setting up an apartment after living in a dorm. I was not expecting much, but the reviews were good and if the knives were no good, there wasn’t much lost. But when she unwrapped them, I was impressed. The different sizes were perfect for a first set of knives and the blades were extremely sharp. I expect the coating (paint?) on the blades to wear off, but who cares so long as the blades stay reasonably sharp and can be re-sharpened. My impression is that this set is a heck of a good deal for the money spent. And, they are very attractive and each knife comes with it own protective sheath so they are easy to store with other kitchen tools in a drawer.

Like many, I’d love to head to Williams-Sonoma and drop $1,000 on a great set of “for life” knives. However, I’m a graduate student so that’s just not in the cards given my stipend. That being said, these are truly excellent for the price. If you don’t have a set of knives, get these now. They are smooth and cut effortlessly. I primarily use the chef, Japanese, and paring knives and I love them. At this price, there’s no excuse for using steak knives. They’ve made cooking so much more enjoyable. The guards are convenient because they don’t come in a block and no one wants to get cut sticking his or her hands in a drawer.

Let me tell you, don’t be too playful with this product. The knives are seriously sharp and VERY dangerous if not used carefully. I consider them value for money and what I loved the most was the safety cover they were smart enough to give with the product. The knives are SERIOUSLY SHARP. And with their attractive coloring & amazing price – this product is a bargain!LM

Had these knives for about nine months now. I held off writing a review because I wanted to see how they held up to repeated use and cleaning. I was concerned that the colored coating would start to chip off but I am very pleasantly surprised. These knives have all held up wonderfully to the day-to-day use I put them through. I have washed them both by hand and in the dishwasher and see no signs of deterioration. I can honestly recommend without hesitation.

I waited to review these until after I really put them to the test, and after 9 months of steady use, I can truly say that I’m pleased. The edge holds up well to use, I keep the paring knife on my magnetic bar, use it the most, and haven’t noticed any issue with the blade coating.I do sharpen all my kitchen knives somewhat regularly, which I think helps the edge hold up. But I have had some cheap knives that were extremely cheap metal. Which, again, is why I waited to review this product. I did have to visit YouTube to fully understand the intended use of the yellow knife that is only sharpened on one side. It’s a sandwich knife meant to cut bread with minimal crumbing, and it works!! It’s also designed wide to scoop and spread condiments, though it’s not the same a butter knife to me.

When my husband stated that we needed some new knives,I knew that getting new knives would be a great gift to surprise him with. But what knives would I choose? That was the problem, since I’ve never been one to spend a lot of money on knives, generally just buying and using what I could find at an affordable price.I first checked Ebay and found these knives (the bright set) as an auction, that was priced quite well, but with a high shipping rate. I quickly came here (Amazon) to see how much they were going for and the options available. While the auction on Ebay was new, in a damaged box and was currently at an almost $12 bid, with another $10 for shipping, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Amazon’s price was only $16.95, a savings of 66% and cheaper than Ebay’s price for a new set.All this sounded good, but the bright colors were not what my husband nor I would prefer. Then I noticed another set of knives on this listing and was excited to see the beautiful “jewel” tones, that would go much better with our kitchen and personal style. I was in knife L.O.V.E. and began pouring over the reviews to make sure they were the “one”.Now in between these reviews, I began to check all over Amazon for other knife sets that had 4-5 star reviews. Boy was I in for a lesson on the cost of knives! Seeing the prices $500 and $1,000+, convinced me that I was a real novice in buying knives and that I would need something affordable and durable. After many, many, reviews later, I continued to come back to the Cuisinart 12 Piece Knife Set (in Jewel). So I gave in, ordered them and two days later was greeted with the BEST knives I have ever owned! I quickly took them out of the box and began effortlessly cutting an orange from my fruit bowl, forgetting who I bought them for. Yes, I bought them for my husband and he says they are great and agrees they’re the best we’ve ever owned, but seriously, I bought them for me too! I now use them on a daily basis and they cut anything I need with ease.CARE- I only hand wash these, so I can protect the finish, as well as the blade for future use. It doesn’t take much time at all to hand wash them and I love that they can be easily stored in blade guards!NOTE- I have used expensive knives that my friends own and can honestly say that while their knives seem a little sharper than these, for the price, I would buy these all over again than pay hundreds of dollars for one slightly sharper knife.

These things are perfect for me. I’m no chef just an average dude who cooks tacos burgers n stuff like that. These knives are SHARP! color ate kind of cheesy to me but they cut with precision and my finger can verify that. These knives cut me to the white meat. However, I feel like I could filet a puffer fish to perfection

Considering the low price, I wasn’t sure what I would get with these knives, but I trust the Cuisinart name, and I figured it was worth a shot. I originally bought these so that I wouldn’t have to keep taking my “good” kitchen knives on camping trips, but to my surprise, I love them so much that I’ve kept them in the kitchen to complement the knives I already had. They are super sharp, and have a great ergonomic handle. The weight and balance is really nice. The set includes every type of knife you might need, and I love the fact that each one comes with it’s own protective blade guard. When I do take them camping, or to a potluck or anywhere else outside of my home, it’s great to be able to both protect the blade from damage, but also to protect the inside of the bags I’m using for transport, and the fingers that will be reaching into them. I also have the option of storing them without the guard because they will stick to the magnetic knife holder I have on my backsplash. My favorite knife of the set is the bread knife, which slices through the crunchiest crust with ease, but also can handle a tender crumb without tearing it up. I also love the yellow utility knife for slices thin skinned fruits and vegetables like tomatoes. It’s also great to have a second chef’s knife as when I’m cooking with someone else, that’s the one everyone seems to need the most. I think these would make a great gift for a young person who is setting up their first home; good knives and cutting boards are so useful!

I’ve had these knives for one year now and i submitted a photo after using and sharpening them continuously. Unlike the odd reviews showing pics of the color coming off like people are using belt sanders on the knives these knives have held up the test of time! Just follow instructions, wash by hand and hand dry and keep them in their protective sleeves. Sharpen as needed. Slice with ease. Make thin beautiful slices of tomato with the chef knife or slice warm fresh baked bread with the yellow bread knife. Lovely knives for a great price!I GOT THE LIGHTNING DEAL AND ONLY PAID $14.99 FOR THESE KNIVES!!!!!!! I JUST THOUGHT THE COLOR WAS A DIFFERENT LINE ON CUISINART PRODUCTS. WHEN THEY CAME I REALIZED THAT IT WAS AN ANTIMICROBIAL, ANTIBACTERIAL COATING. AND THE WARRANTY IS AWESOME. THESE ARE BY FAR THE BEST KNIVES I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. VERY SHARP. VERY EASY TO USE. I HAVE ALWAYS STRUGGLED CUTTING APART A WHOLE CHICKEN INTO IT’S PARTS. BUT THIS KNIFE WENT RIGHT THROUGH AND I HAD THE CHICKEN SEPERATED PERFECTLY IN ABOUT 5 MINUTES! AMAZING KNIVES! EVERY COOK/CHEF NEEDS THESE KNIVES IN THEIR KITCHEN! MY NEIGHBOR ACTUALLY IS A CHEF AND OWNS HER OWN RESTAURANT AND SHE CAME OVER AND TRIED THEM OUT AND ACTUALLY WENT ON HERE AND PAID THE FULL PRICE OF $59.99 FOR THEM!!!!!!!!!! GREAT GREAT KNIVES! 5 STARS JUST AREN’T ENOUGH!

I saw this set in a Buzzfeed article and bought it despite having an okay block set.I’m really glad I bought these. They are super sharp, versatile, and the guards are nice so I can keep the knives in a drawer. I still have the knife block but I use these most of the time. The fun colors are a plus and the price can’t be beat.Although I’m not much of a cook, I think these are still plenty sufficient for most kitchens. It’s a bummer having to hand-wash them but that’s a first-world problem in the first degree. This would be an ideal gift for a new graduate/college student/housewarming.
